Antony G. Mann last
played for The MAD back in 2012, when he returned from his native Australia
to squeeze a T20 in between three weeks of heavy rain. He didn’t take a
wicket and he didn’t score a run, but he did take a catch with those enormous
hands of his. Despite being one of the club’s more consummate cricketers, it
is Antony’s powers with the pen that are more celebrated, being the main
contributor to The MAD’s first novel ‘Not at This Level’ and the hand
behind many of this website’s most endearing match reports. So, it with some sadness
he hasn’t as yet penned a report for this match, a game he chanced upon
during a brief visit to these shores this summer. We can only hope he finds
the time one day and it appears here in place of this workmanlike dross…. …so, what happened then
(in the match that is)? Well, everyone got
really pissed as it was a Friday tourist game and Captain Spam may have been
the most pissed, but still contrived to engineer a grandstand finale where
Timms needed to whack the final ball for six to win the match. Unfortunately,
Gary didn’t, so everyone went back to the bar and got furtherly pissed.
